Whale Watching In Sydney. What is best time
Recently I wrote about “Whale watching in Sydney. The best places“, but most of you also interested to know when is the best time for whale watching. Whale migration season last from May until December. Almost any day you can see Humpback or Southern Right whales or dolphins, or sometimes even Killer whales (or else known as Orcas) like it happen yesterday.
The full story and video about that is here.
Very nice, but also it is such rare visit and nobody know when Killer whales will visit again. Humpback whales are more predictable. On www.whalewatchingsydney.net website there is list with Humpback whales sightings, but I decided put numbers into more convenient form.

This is statistic for 3 and half year, but it is clear visible two peeks in the season. Especially these peaks were distinct last year. In June/July Humpback whales migrating North for breeding. From end of September until December they are going back South. At this time of year females with new born calves usually are seen closer to shore. Can’t wait for the Spring then they gonna start coming back.
P.S. As Humpback whales are main attraction in this chart I didn’t include sightings of Pacific and Bottlenose dolphins, False Killer whales, Southern Right whales, Killer Whales (Orcas), Minke Whales

Watching Orca’s from a fishing vessel in Alaska is one of the fondest memories I have of being a commercial fisherman. They are truly incredible beautiful creatures. Thanks for reminding me.
Vago, you should go to Caribbean or Tonga to swim(snorkelling) with Humpback Whales, or to Western Australia to swim with Whale Sharks. Did both and that’s indescribable experience, but will try to write more about it in near future.

The Philippines also host whale watching activities in Sorsogon. The Whale Sharks are really Gentle Giants. Too bad some people still kill them for their meat!
