Whale watching Sydney: 2009 season whale sightings update
This year whale watching season in Sydney is almost over. Some people are still lucky to see breaching humpback whales or even very rare Bryde’s whales, but in general sighting numbers are going down, bellow is updated chart I posted earlier in the middle of whale watching in Sydney season.

So if you want to see whales in Sydney, probably it is better to wait till next July. Although if you feel very lucky you still can try whale watching in Sydney in November/December. Good luck!

Great post on whale watching. My favorite time of year. When traveling and selecting a whale watching tour company, I always try to pick one that states they are responsible in how they approach whales. Being as close to a whale may be fun for us, but not necessarily to the whales according to research.
I just took a whale watching tour in Costa Rica and liked the professionalism this operator demonstrated. This page on their website explains how they approach whales and why.

Now if we can just keep the Japanese from killing off their whale “research subjects”…
