This year one of most popular national parks in Australia – Kakadu – re-introduced a park use fee and became most expensive Australian national park to visit. The fee is $25 per person and valid for two weeks. Although all Northern Territory residents and children under 16 are exempt.
That’s pretty steep in my opinion. It might drive more people to Litchfield (which I presume is still free?)
I liked Kakadu for the rock drawings, but the mozzies drove me insane! The problem was exasperated by the local campgrounds constantly watering their lawns, creating a massive breeding ground for them!!
Litchfield NP is still free. At what time you been in Kakadu? During wet season? I didn’t have problems in campgrounds except mozzies of course. Especially in campground near East Alligator.
BTW after my trip to Tasmania I don’t think entry to Kakadu NP is very expensive. In Tasmania entry to any National Park cost $24 per car. If you travel alone it sums. Of course it is possible to by National Parks Pass for $60.
